Shower Style in Northern California

My husband and I were recently invited to our friends’ co-ed baby shower. I love any excuse to dress up (as I’m sure most girls do)but trying to coordinate, especially when you’re traveling, can be tricky. My recommendation for any semi-formal occasion is to stick with a flattering silhouette and classy neutrals.  It will make you look polished and put together without distracting from the host/hostess you are celebrating. Add a light sweater (mine was from Target) or jacket for unexpected weather changes, some glittery accessories and you’re good to go! Oh and don’t forget a backup pair of shoes (remember even the best heels can be temperamental) and a small umbrella for your purse. It’s called a shower after all!

Nordstrom

I am a big believer in taking everyday grey and elevating it. For me, Nordstrom is always my first stop for fashion. I paired this Painted Threads peplum tank with a pink and grey Missguided pencil skirt (almost half off!) The top is super comfortable and goes with pretty much anything. I have a berry colored one too! I typically put this tank with skinny jeans but the skirt combination gives it a more polished look. My Jessica Simpson bag was a last minute decision but I liked the contrast of the black against the grey. The hardware being gold tied in with my mixed metal statement necklace and the black pom was just too cute to resist.

Sam Edelman

Every girl should own at least one pair of nude heels. Not only do they go with almost anything but they tend to elongate your legs (which is never a bad thing in my book. ) I had been coveting these embellished sling backs by Sam Edelman at Nordstrom for a while. They sold out quickly though in my size (10.) I was super bummed but as luck would have it, I found them on sale via Nordstrom Rack a few weeks later & did a tiny jig for getting them at 50% off the original price. This shoe also comes in black which I’m super tempted to pick up as well. Since heels like these are staples, you never really have to worry about them going out of style in the foreseeable future.

While we are on the subject of must haves, you should always have a cute pair of sunglasses with you! I found my leopard print sunnies by Dolce & Gabbana at Nordstrom Rack and I’m obsessed with them.

Baublebar

Two of my go to sites for reasonably priced accessories are Baublebar and Mr. Kate. Let’s start with Baublebar. Their website has a huge selection of fabulous fashion jewelry as well as capsule collections from designers that are limited addition. Truly the sky’s the limit no matter what style you prefer. I must say I’m a sucker for their necklaces and brooches. To be honest I own a few more than I probably should (but you won’t tell right?) If you don’t want to shop on their website, Nordstrom carries a variety of Baublebar pieces you can take a peek at in person.

Mr. Kate

Now on to my other coveted jewelry line. I stumbled upon Mr. Kate via YouTube. She (that’s right “SHE”) is one of the quirkiest, coolest, most free spirited designers I’ve found.  Her jewelry designs are unique and often whimsical in nature. I have about a dozen pieces so far and the ring I featured for this post is a personal fave. I highly suggest you follow her on all her social media outlets as well as pick up her book  if you want to laugh, get some style inspo, and try some pretty amazing DIYs.

Thank you so much for reading! This was my 1st official post and I hope you liked it! I will be focusing my blog on all things style and beauty as well as entertainment and home decor.

Yours Truly,

A.
