What to Wear to Your Next Fall Event

Happy Halloween 2017!

Are you doing anything fun tonight? My night will consist of tacos & scary movies with the husband. We have candy on the ready for any trick or treaters. In the spirit of Halloween, I thought this little black number was the perfect choice for today’s post. Morticia Addams anyone?

Figuring out what to wear to more formal events this time of year (October/November) can sometimes be a tad bit tricky. You don’t want to go “full holiday glam,” right!? Save that for Christmas & New Year’s Eve. But you still want to look polished & pretty. Enter the lace romper! I love a romper with a long overlay. It is chic but comfy at the same time. I really love this romper in particular because it’s a steal at around $80 & comes in lots of beautiful hues. The key to dressing this look up is with statement making accessories like my gold jewelry & resin bag. If you want to dress it down for other days here are a few of my style recommendations. Try a jean or leather jacket, a cozy knit sweater on top, add a wide brimmed hat & booties or gladiators (if you’re somewhere like me in southern California & it never gets really cold.)

Not into the romper trend? I’ve linked some beautiful laced alternatives below, & yes, I want them all!

How to Wear Floral Prints This Fall

Hi All! I’m back stateside & I couldn’t wait to start blogging again. I’ll be doing a Travel Post all about my trip to Canada soon so keep an eye out for that! I’m going to keep this post short & sweet. I talked a bit about floral prints in my first Fall Trends post here, but I wanted to give you another way to wear floral prints in autumn.

People tend to associate certain patterns to a specific season & don’t really stray from the norm. I don’t think anything should be “seasonally exclusive” outside of things like down jackets & ear muffs. When you think of Fall & Winter patterns it’s usually checkered, gingham, plaid etc…. why not broaden the spectrum a bit with jewel toned prints!!!

I think the easiest way to wear patterns (like flowers) that seem more spring/summer appropriate is by choosing pieces with richer tones like emerald & olive-green, deep ruby, vibrant sapphire or burnt amethyst.

My Outfit:

This top was a steal & still available in select sizes. These jeans are a new favorite & come in a very wide range of sizes & styles so you can find the perfect pair for your body. My Quay sunnies are classic black but come in several other colors including gold & green. A good crossbody bag is a necessity for any girl or guy for that matter. I love this bag because it’s classic looking but also has a cool factor with its leather tassel & sleek hardware. Shop my entire look below.

Fall Trends 2017: Copper & Rust Tones

Happy Thanksgiving Day to all my fellow Canadians!!!! I’m up north in Toronto with the fam watching my mother cook up a storm (I’mfabulous cheerleader, what can I say…it’s a gift) but I had to jump on here really quick & continue my Fall Trends series because I’m feeling seasonally inspired, (you can view my first & second  fall style posts here & here) especially since it actually feels like fall in Canada.

Let’s talk color palettes! I absolutely adore copper & rust tones this time of year!!! They’re classic, they’re chic & they’re a no-brainer color choice for autumn. If you’ve never ventured into the copper/rust realm before…. NOW is the time to experiment! You should try both warmer & cooler tones to see which shades are more complimentary to your skin tone. I actually have both tones in my personal fall wardrobe. What can I say, I’m color greedy.

My Outfit Details:

This beautiful warm caramel suede jacket by Blanknyc is soooo incredibly soft & the perfect length. I’m 5’6″ & it hits me right at my hip. This moto jacket has been so popular, it’s been brought back every season for the last few years in a variety of shades & is currently available in 4 colors including a soft gray & beautiful deep burgundy. I think this jacket would look great over a sweater dress too.

My Lush cami is only $9 right now on clearance at Nordstrom Rack. I love the animal print & button detailing on it. Prints like leopard are so on trend this season!

These Quay sunnies are currently on sale for $39 & go with pretty much any outfit! I have so many sunglasses from this brand & I keep buying more! They are amazing as far as style selection & price.

One more thing to think about when compiling your fall wardrobe is a great everyday bag. I love shoulder bags like a spacious hobo in the fall & winter. They’re versatile & timeless, especially in neutral colors like cognac or khaki. I’ve linked a similar bag to mine below.
